The Association Forum and the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (formerly NOCA) are coming together in Chicago on May 12th to hold a one day education event to discuss and learn how social media is being used in the development and marketing of credentialing programs. Workshops include continental breakfast and a boxed lunch.
Objectives:
- Gain understanding of how social media can be used to have a positive impact on the success of credentialing organizations
- Participants will walk away with tools to assist them in developing social media plans for their organizations
- Participants will learn the legal issues and solutions in implementing a social media strategy
- Through peer interaction, participants will learn from each other based on their individual successes and failures related to social media
Presenters:
Stuart Meyer, Chief Strategist and Founder, Social Frequency Media Communications
Mr. Meyer started Social Frequency to serve clients who are ready to innovate and integrate social media into their overall business strategy at a fraction of the cost of your typical agency. For the past four years, he has developed firsthand expertise as a successful social media publisher, content generator and influencer through blogging, online video, podcasting, collaboration and community building. Mr. Meyer has over twelve years of experience in the integrated disciplines of marketing, communications, public relations, membership programs and customer service all as it relates to organizational governance and operations. Mr. Meyer served as the marketing and communications officer for the Emergency Nursing Association and also worked for the American Bar Association. He is currently focusing on the development of social media and technology based solutions for the certification community.
Cindy Kuhn, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communication Services, SmithBucklin Corporation
Cindy Kuhn leads SmithBucklin’s Marketing & Communication Services, providing positioning and branding strategy, convention and event marketing, member/industry publications, member retention and recruitment programs, media relations, market research and statistics, and visual design for all types of volunteer-governed organizations. SmithBucklin is the leading association management company serving over 320 trade associations, professional societies, credentialing organizations, technology user groups, corporations, government agencies/institutes and other non-profit organizations.
Cindy’s brand and marketing communications expertise spans both corporate and consulting firms. She has developed strategic marketing & communications campaigns and counseled leading brands such as Miller Brewing, Kraft Foods, Borden, Quaker Oats, Wendy’s International, Gatorade Thirst Quencher and McDonald’s Corporation, as well as associations in the technology, business trade and health care industries. Recently, Cindy has led a team at SmithBucklin in the development of a 5 step approach to developing a social media strategy specifically designed for associations.
Jim Wilson, Partner Webster, Chamberlain and Bean
Jim Wilson counsels both non-profit and for-profit organizations on a range of corporate, regulatory and legislative matters. Mr. Wilson's practice principally consists of serving as general counsel to trade associations, professional societies and other non-profit organizations. In that capacity, Mr. Wilson advises his clients on issues relating to corporate organization and governance, tax, antitrust compliance, commercial contracts, real estate lease and acquisition transactions and employment matters. Jim has a law degree from Harvard Law School, and his undergraduate degree is from Washington & Lee University.
In addition to the above presenters there will be representatives from various credentialing organizations discussing their successes and failures in implementing social media into their job analysis, item writing and communication strategies.
