ICE’s Executive Director, Jim Kendzel, has been participating on an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) working group charged with the task of developing proposed revisions to ISO 17024, General requirements for bodies offering certification of persons. The working group was composed of representatives from the U.S., Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Australia, Brazil and other countries. The proposed revisions to the standard, as recommended by the working group, are now out for public review and comment by the ISO member countries.
In addition to serving on the ISO working group, Jim Kendzel also is a member of the International Conformity Assessment Committee (ICAC) which is responsible for recommending how the U.S. should vote on the proposed revisions. You are being made aware of the project so that you have an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed revisions. ICE will collate the comments received and provide them to the ICAC for consideration. When submitting your comments please provide them in the following format:
- Standard item number
- Recommended changes to the standard
- Rationale for proposed change
