Online Library of Credentialing Industry Research - ICE is pleased to launch the Online Library of Credentialing Industry Research. The goal of this online library is to be THE resource for credentialing organizations to share best practices and current resources. However, this tool is only as good as you make it! With your support and participation, this will be the one-stop-shop for research in the credentialing industry.
If you are a member of ICE and your organization has conducted its own research and benchmarking studies, please submit them for inclusion in the Online Library of Credentialing Industry Research. Documents will be reviewed for appropriateness, and we will begin posting content to the library in February 2012. We appreciate your patience as we continue to collect research and develop this tool. To submit your organization’s best practices or other research studies, click here.
Benchmarking Best Practices - The wait is over! The highly anticipated "Benchmarking Best Practices" is now available in the ICE store. This report covers best practices in professional certification related to activities that are relatively specific to the development, administration, and maintenance of professional certification programs. The best practices included are limited to those where experts in the field reached consensus through a systematic investigation of practice. The document is $35 for ICE members and $85 for non-members. To purchase, please visit the ICE online store.
Demystifying Item Analysis – The way questions are formatted play a signature role in how they are answered. Item analysis is a technique that determines the number and percentage of students selecting a specific answer. ICE members Greg Pope, MSc and Greg Sadesky, PhD are Vice Presidents at Yardstick and provide a basic introduction to item analysis. In doing so, ICE members can interpret their own psychometric reports. Read about their research.
“If You Don’t Have a Public Member, Get One!” – Public members give a voice to the people that your organization works to protect. A quote that resonated long after the ICE conference in New Orleans motivated Public Member Jon MacLean to write about his personal experience with the National Examining Board of Ocularists and ICE. He also provides a list of tips and tricks to look for when searching for your ideal candidate to take the roll of Public Member. Read MacLean’s story.
A chance to participate - Earlier this year ICE launched a survey to collect information related to the "business" side of operating a certification organization. Those who attended the closing session at the ICE Annual Conference saw the value of this type of benchmarking and learned what a useful tool it is in evaluating their own certification programs. The survey response rate was lower than expected so we’re doing one last call for respondents. To make these data valid and statistically useful, we need your participation. If you are a member organization and would like to participate, please email info@credentialingexcellence.org prior to December 22nd.
