About the Presenters

Linda Anguish headshot Linda Anguish, SPHR, GPHR, is the Director of Credentialing Products and Services at the Human Resources Certification Institute, where she has worked since 2004.  She oversees the Exam Development, Recertification and Approved Provider functions. Prior to joining the Institute, Linda spent more than 15 years as a Human Resource practitioner.

Sharifa Gomez, PHR, CHRP has 10 years of HR experience in Canada and the U.S. combined. She has worked in Toronto, South Carolina, Seoul, and Virginia. With this international perspective, she is able to connect the impact of HR in a global context. She has a background of implementing change management initiatives in various industries, environments and diverse staff populations.

Linda Haft is responsible for Magnolia River's Human Resource functions. She has over 20 years of experience as a senior manager in various industries - both for- and not-for-profit - which have included AOL, First National Bank of Bar Harbor, Lexington Public Library, and McKechnie Vehicle Components. Most recently, Ms. Haft was an HR Consultant/Business Partner for various organizations in Kentucky.

Ms. Haft is a senior professional in HR (SPHR) and a certified compensation professional (CCP). She earned her BS in Education from Penn State and her MS in HR Management from Troy University. She has been a member of HRCI's exam development panel since 2004 and has been an active member of state and national HR committees. 


Martie Sparks, CMP is Vice President of Banquets, Catering & Convention Services for Mandalay Bay Convention Resort. Martie oversees the daily operations of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, specifically Catering and Convention Services Departments, as well as Banquet Set Up and Banquet Operations.  Her team of over 1100 hourly and management employees handle all of the operational details for convention groups in the 1.7 million square foot convention center. 

Martie is responsible for driving Catering and Banquet revenue and achieving a multi-million dollar budgeted goal, along with first class customer service. One of her primary objectives includes delivering beyond customer expectations by redefining the standards by which banquet food and service is measured.  Customer service survey’s rate Mandalay Bay’s Catering and Convention Services Department routinely at a 97% satisfaction rate.
