Donald Truxillo, PhD, Portland State University
Dr. Truxillo's research examines the methods employers use to hire workers and the way that applicants perceive their potential employer during recruitment and hiring. As such, he examines issues such as applicant perceptions of the employee selection process and high-tech applicant screening systems. In addition, Dr. Truxillo examines issues associated with older workers (in conjunction with colleagues in Italy and France), including older worker stereotypes and job design for older and younger workers. He also examines issues associated with antecedents of workplace safety.
Dr. Truxillo’s work has been published in outlets such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Management. He has served as associate editor at the Journal of Management, and he is a member of the editorial boards of Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Business and Psychology, Journal of Management, and the European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology. He has served as member-at-large and external relations officer on the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Executive Board. Dr. Truxillo served as Program Chair and Conference Chair for the SIOP conference, and as chair of the SIOP International Affairs Committee. He is a Fellow of SIOP, American Psychological Science, and the American Psychological Association. He is the recipient of SIOP's 2012 Distinguished Service Contributions Award in recognition of sustained, significant, outstanding service. Since 2010 he has served on the Doctoral School Committee, Department of Psychological Science and Education, University of Trento, Italy.
