ICE Executive Conversation on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The new EU data protection framework, called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), went into effect on May 25, 2018.  This new law significantly impacts any entity that does business in Europe, even those without a physical EU presence (e.g. U.S. organizations targeting Europe citizens).  Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman attorney’s Steve Farmer and Meighan O’Reardon will be present background on GDPR and how it may impact data collection efforts and operations by U.S-based certification organizations.

Topics for discussion include:

  • Understanding the key impacts of the GDPR, including its extra-jurisdictional reach and the new fine levels
  • What organizations should be doing to comply and what to prioritize
  • Extraterritorial application of GDPR for U.S.-based organizations
