ICE Legal Action Fund
The Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) is a leading developer of standards for both certification programs (National Commission for Certifying Agencies, or NCCA, accreditation) and assessment-based certificate programs (Assessment-based Certificate Accreditation Program, or ACAP, accreditation). By accrediting to developed standards, we further our organization’s mission of advancing credentialing to ensure competence across professions and occupations for public consumers.
As you may know, ICE has defended itself in lawsuit from an unsuccessful NCCA applicant for the past two years. This legal action has led to additional legal fees not covered by ICE’s current insurance policy. Many members have inquired about contributing to a fund to help support this effort and protect the integrity of the Standards.
Funds collected through the Legal Action Fund would be used for any legal funds (current or future) especially to supplement where the insurance might not cover specific expenses.
Who may contribute? This fund would be open to all ICE members who wish to contribute. However, this fund would not be open to any competitors of any current litigants.
Where would the funds be held? The funds would be held in a restricted fund carried on the Statement of Financial Position so that the funds may carry forward and accumulate from year to year.
How would the funds be spent? Upon Board direction/vote, the funds could be used on current or future legal expenses. The Board would be directly responsible for approving how the funds are used.
How can I (or my organization) contribute? There is no minimum donation required, and you may make your donation by check or by credit card. For either option,
- Click the "Add to Cart" button and type the amount of your donation
- Then, click the "Add to Cart and View Cart" button to generate a donation invoice. You will be able to review the amount before selecting your preferred payment method.
- Click the "Checkout" button. Here, you will be asked whether you want to pay by credit card or pay by check. Select your preference and follow the prompts.
*Check payments should be made payable to "Institute for Credentialing Excellence." Please print the donation invoice and mail it with your check payment.
Thank you in advance for your support in protecting the integrity of ICE's accreditation standards.
