About the Presenters

Shannon Carter headshotShannon Carter was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI) in 1999. Prior to her tenure at CCI, Ms. Carter served for ten years in various staff leadership positions with the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree in organizational development from the University of San Francisco and is currently pursuing a doctorate in organizational leadership at Northeastern University. Ms. Carter is CAE certified and has served on the Boards of Directors for the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS), and American Society of Training Development Certification Institute (ASTD-CI). In addition to her role as CEO of CCI, Ms. Carter actively speaks, publishes and advises organizations on matters related the business, governance and strategy development of credentialing.

 

Rory McCorkle headshotRory E. McCorkle is the co-founder and President of International Credentialing Associates (ICA), an organization specializing in expert consulting services for credentialing organizations in new credential/assessment development, credential maintenance, marketing, project management, and team leadership. Rory has worked with over 50 associations since beginning his career in this field in 2003.

Previously, Rory worked as a Product Manager of Credentials at the Project Management Institute (PMI), where he managed the Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential, the most recognized project management credentialing in the world with over half a million credential holders in 182 countries. He also worked at Prometric, providing exam development and program design consulting to credentialing and licensure organizations. In these positions, Rory led or consulted on projects resulting in the launch of more than a dozen new credentials.

Rory received a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He also graduated with a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Drexel University, specializing in Marketing, and graduated magna cum laude from Millersville University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He also holds the New Product Development Certification (NPDP) from the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA). Rory is an adjunct faculty member at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, and is a member of AEA, American Educational Research Association (AERA), National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME), APA, Psi Chi, Phi Kappa Phi, and MENSA.
