I.C.E. has launched the premier certification program for credentialing professionals. The I.C.E. Certified Credentialing Professional (ICE-CCP) allows credentialing professionals to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and abilities in governance, program operations, and assessment development and validation. As the professional home for credentialing organizations and individuals, I.C.E. serves as the primary resource for best practices and is uniquely qualified to develop this certification opportunity for credentialing professionals.
Candidates who are first to sit for the exam in Fall 2021 will pioneer this credential, and lead the way in advancing the credentialing profession.
Be one of the first credentialing professionals to earn your ICE-CCP!
Purpose of Credential
Holders of the I.C.E. Certified Credentialing Professional (ICE-CCP) certification will have demonstrated competence in professional credentialing, including in governance and resources, credentialing program operations, and assessment development and validation. Though they may be focused in certain functions in their day to day activities, they have demonstrated knowledge across all credentialing activities and understand the interplay among functions. A minimum of two – three (2-3) years of professional credentialing experience is required to take the ICE-CCP examination.
I.C.E. began exploring the need and market for certification for credentialing professionals more than ten years ago. The first job analysis of credentialing professionals was completed by I.C.E, with the assistance of several industry partners in 2008-2009. Based on this analysis, I.C.E. developed and released the Certificate for Credentialing Specialist Program in 2014. While the certificate program is valued by those who have completed it and other stakeholders, market research completed for I.C.E. in 2018-2019 indicated a certification that provides a designation is desired. It would add value to the profession, provide a clear career path and ultimately benefit individuals and organizations.
Following an open call for volunteers, approximately 100 credentialing professionals with diversified experience stepped forward and offered to serve as subject matter experts. These individuals served on the Job Analysis or standard setting panels, wrote draft examination items and participated in review of the beta examination forms, contributing to the high standards of quality expected by the profession.

I.C.E. is grateful to the industry partners that are providing in-kind services to support the certification development.
A steering committee representing well-known experts in credentialing across a variety of occupations and professions was formed in March 2020 to guide the program development process. I.C.E. also worked with Cyndi Miller-Murphy, MSN RN CAE FAAN, former Executive Director of the ONCC, to guide the process and ensure consistency with the NCCA standards.
