On December 7, 2007 NOCA submitted comments to the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) on their draft model rule prohibiting the use of misleading senior and retiree designations.  We are pleased to report that the NASAA model rule requires NCCA accreditation. 

On October 18, 2007, NOCA submitted testimony to the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs regarding its hearing on updating the Montgomery G.I. Bill. 

On Thursday, September 20, 2007, the House Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity held a hearing on “Licensure and Certification of Transitioning Veterans.”  Richard F. Weidman, Executive Director for Policy and Government Affairs of Vietnam Veterans of America, submitted testimony for the record that singled out NOCA for its exceptional work within the credentialing industry.   NOCA Executive Director Jim Kendzel also submitted testimony for the record.

On September 5th, 2007 NOCA Executive Director Jim Kendzel submitted testimony to the Senate Special Committee on Aging for its hearing on who is qualified to advise seniors about their money.

On August 6, 2007, NOCA Executive Director Jim Kendzel provided testimony before the House Professional Licensure Committee of the General Assembly of Pennsylvania regarding its hearing on HB 1250 related to the regulation of pharmacy technicians. 


On July 26, 2007, the House Education and Labor Committee held a hearing pertaining to the reauthorization of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).  Originally passed in 1998, the WIA is the nation’s primary job training program. WIA was to be reauthorized in 2004, but work on it was never completed.  The program provides a variety of job training services for adults at One Stop Training Centers around the country.  NOCA submitted testimony for the hearing record.

  • 7/26/07 testimony submitted to the House Education and Labor Committee on the reauthorization of the Workforce Investment Act

The NOCA Government Affairs Committee sent comments to the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts supporting proposed regulations that would require accredited certifications for professions that provide services or advice to senior citizens in the financial services sector. 


On May 16, 2006, the Office of Management and Budget issued a Notice of Solicitation of Comments concerning the revision of the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system.  The SOC serves as a universal classification system for occupations.  NOCA sent comments to the Standard Occupational Classification Revision Policy Committee concerning the SOC revision.
